There’s been no shortage of reporting on Deshaun Watson’s unhappiness inside Houston. And should he become available in trade this offseason, there’ll be no shortage of teams wanting to acquire him.
But that’s not just educated speculation, that’s literally the latest rumored report: “There are several franchises monitoring the events surrounding Watson if he becomes available on the trade market,” , citing reporting from teammate Chris Mortensen.
Schefter adds the Texans are having internal discussions about possible trade partners, the possibility of Watson forcing his way out, and Houston’s demand for major compensation in a deal.
And to that I say: “MENTION THE BEARS, YOU COWARDS.”
The Bears have an obvious need to improve the position and have already put themselves out there suggesting that they’re ready to take a big swing to get it right. Obviously, previous hacks came up empty. But for Deshaun Watson, everything should be on the table. Especially since there figures to be stiff competition in the running to get him.
For time time being, the Miami Dolphins appear to be a front-runner in the Watson sweepstakes. Schefter’s report cites reporting from teammate Chris Mortensen, who hears Miami is an “acceptable landing spot” because of the team’s culture and no state income taxes. Hey, everyone’s got their reasons. But, again, they won’t be the only ones. So buckle up and get ready for an obsessive Watson watch.
