Get your popcorn ready, my friends.
This is going to be a ride:
Deshaun Watson officially has requested a trade from the Houston Texans, per league sources. He actually did it weeks ago. Their new head-coaching hire, David Culley, has not and will not alter Watson’s thinking.

Houston Texans quarterback Desꦚhaun Watson has asked to be traded.
In fact, Watson’s request has been in place for some time, as Schefter notes that it came weeks ago. The confirmation of a reported request comes the morning after news crossed that the Texans were hiring David Culley as their next h𒀰ead co🍨ach. What seemed like an uninspiring move at the outset of its breaking turned out to be something that didn’t shift Watson’s desire to leave the franchise. Then again, that news is unsurprising.
And to think, the ball was put into motion because Watson wasn’t as involved in the GM-coach searches as he was once led to believe.
As for what’s next …well, chaos.
Teams have been circling the Texans’ franchise for weeks now. In other words, there should be no shortage of suitors requesting to trade for Watson. Figure the Bears to be among those teams lining up to make their pitch. But naturally, Watson wields no-trade power and can ultimately dictate where he goes. Nevertheless, I want him on the Bears so bad. And I’d bet I’m not alone in thinking that.
The Bears are expected to take a big swing at the quarterback position this offseason. And the swings don’t get any bigger than Deshaun Watson. May the Force be with us all.
