The Commanders Believe ESPN’s Reporting is Part of a Plan to Oust Owner Daniel Snyder

Dan Snyder Commanders NFL Notes
Dan Snyder Commanders NFL Notes

It feels as if something dramatic is always going on with the Washington Football Team. And Washington Commanders Owner Daniel Snyder reportedly dangling “dirt” on the NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is just the latest chapter in this saga.

ESPN’s Don Van Natta Jr., Seth Wickersham, and Tisha Thompson have the scoop:

That Snyder comes off in the article as some sort of made-man because he has blackmail against the NFL’s commissioner (and team owners around the league) is mind-bending stuff. And yet, it is somehow not unimaginable.

It’s bombshell reporting from deep-rooted ESPN authors, to say the least.

Moreo🦂ver, it 🐠is reporting that the franchise is taking exception to this morning:

The team releasing a statement suggesting that ESPN’s reporting is part of a deeper plot to force Snyder into selling the team is next-level stuff. It’s an addition of more drama to an already dramatic storyline.

Keep in mind that Snyder and Washington’s football team has been in the middle of (or adjacent to) a bunch of league-wide controversies in recent years. For instance, reports that Snyder and the franchise “may have engaged in potentially unlawful conduct.” There was that time this summer when Snyder was subpoenaed by the U.S. House Oversight and Reform Commit﷽tee. No wonder there was reporting suggesting that league owners are “counting votes” to see if they have enough to boot Snyder. And let’s not forget the Jon Gruden emails that got him fired (and ultimately led the forme♔r NFL head coach to sue the league and its commish, alleging “Soviet-style character assassination”) came as a part of an investigation into improper conduct done by Washington football team.

This story is far from over.
