D.J. Moore on the Bears’ Big Trade: “It Makes Me Feel Special”

It’s officially official.

D.J. Moore is now a member of the Chicago Bears.

The trade the Bears cu🌺t with the Carolina Panthers on Friday officially went through as the NFL’s new league year began at 3 p.m. CT. And in case you need a reminder, here’s what it looks like:

Getting the 9th and 61st picks, as well as a first-rounder in 2024 and second-round choice in 2025 are a nice haul to move out from having the first overall pick. But the real deal-maker is Moore. In fact, the Bears wouldn’t have made the trade had it not been for Moore’s inclusion. Do you think the Bears wanted him just a lil’ bit?

“It makes me feel special,” Moore said, . “When a team does that—they just want one specific player—that means a lot. It hit home that I’m really welcome here.”

I’m with the new guy. That feeling of being wanted hits different. When people make you feel wanted, it can do so much to boost your self-esteem. Not that a three-time 1,000-yard receiver needs that boost, but I’m 100 percent here for the positive vibes emanating from this trade. Who doesn’t want to feel wanted? And I think that Poles was insistent on Moore being part of the trade is sitting well with the newest member of the Bears.

Right now, it’s all about the Bears making Moore feel special. Looking ahead, it is Moore who will be the one making us feel that way. Moore joins an offense that features Khalil Herbert (who had the highest yards/carry average among running backs who qualified for the rushing title in 2022), Darnell Mooney (just one season removed from a 1,000-yard receiving campaign), Cole Kmet (coming off a breakout year), and Justin Fields (who was pretty darn good in 2022).

Moore is one of a handful of splashy moves the Bears are making official today. More on the others later. But for now, keep in mind that Chicago’s football team could have more up their sleeve:

So stay tuned!
