We have a new highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL! According to a report from NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, the Lions have made Amon-Ra St. Brown the richest wiജdeout in the NFL with a four-year, $120 million contract extension that includes $77 million guaranteed. A well-deserved mega-deal indeed for the standout receiver entering his fourth NFL season.
Amon-Ra St. Brown Coming Off Career Year
Amon-Ra St. Brown has gotten better every year he’s been in the NFL. He had an impressive rookie campaign totaling nearly 1,000 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 90 receptions. In year two, he had 1,161 yards with six scores on 106 catches. Then this season he really took off with 1,515 receiving yards and 10 TDs on 119 receptions – all career-high totals. St. Brown finished behind just Tyreek Hill and CeeDee Lamb for the most receiving yards in the NFL last season.
With St. Brown locked up for the long term now, it ensures just how loaded the NFC North is at the receiver position. The division contains – St. Brown, D.J. Moore, and Keenan Allen – and that doesn’t even include Justin Jefferson in Minnesota who was sidelined for a good chunk of 2023-24.
It’s not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison, but new receiver contracts are something for Bears fans to keep an eye on. D.J. Moore’s contract is up after the 2025 season, so he has two full seasons left. But last season he finished sixth in the NFL in receiving yards, and that was with some inconsistency at the quarterback position. If Caleb Williams does come in and live up to the hype, we’ll likely see Moore’s stock rise over the next two seasons which will mean he’d command a big extension.
Obviously if after the 2025 season were talking about a huge extension for Moore, that would be a good thing. It would mean that the star receiver only got better and the Bears found their franchise quarterback. It’s also worth noting how much of a steal D.J. Moore is at just over $16 million per year over the next two seasons.
But for now, it’s just something to keep on the back burner. Moore will be 29 years old after the 2025 season.
