The Chicago Bears’ debut on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” series isn’t until August 6.
Fo▨r ꧅those of you who are keeping track at home, that is 35 days from today.
In the meantime, a spin-off of the Hard Knocks series is debuting tonight. For those of you looking for NFL content, the behind-the-scenes look at the New York Giants’ offseason through the lens of HBO’s cameras is set to air at 8 p.m. CT on HBO. And if you’re on the fence, perhaps this teaser trailer ( a.k.a. The Artist Formerly Known as Twitter) will whet your whistle or tickle your fancy:
The exchange between Carolina Panthers General Manager Dan Morgan and Joe Schoen (who holds the top executive title for the New York Giants) discussing th🐎e possibility of a Brian Burns trade꧅ is quite the treat.
DAN MORGAN: “You wanna give us two ones for Burns?”
JOE SCHOEN: “Oooh!”
SCHOEN: “No. I mean, yes. But…”
MORGAN: “Or a one and something?
SCHOEN: “OK, you’re headed in the right direction.”
Who knew the Brian Burns trade had such humble beginnings? I💦 guess NFL trade talks can really happen when you least expect them.
This is why Chicago Bears fans wanted their team on Hard Knocks
On the one hand, that one-minute clip is Exhibit A as to why the Bears have long been hesitant to welcome HBO’s cameras onto the Halas Hall campus for filming. But on the other hand, you can understand why Bears fans have been clamoring for Hard Knocks to come to town.
A behind-the-scenes look that peels back the curtain to show how the sausage is the type of stuff I’d like to cram into my eyeballs. Surely, I’m not alone in feeling this way. I hope HBO catches something like this with Bears General Manager Ryan Poles, Assistant GM Ian Cunningham, Head Coach Matt Eberflus, or anyone else associated with Chicago’s football team. Extra points if you can snag a soundbite from Bears President and CEO Kevin Warren regarding the direction of the team’s stadium project.
THE NFL AND HARD KNOCKS: Training Camp With the Bears | In-season With the AFC North
The 2024 Bears enter training camp with a kind of buzz I haven’t felt since summer 2019. There are stories to tell. And I hope Hard Knocks can get to some of them before HBO’s time in Lake Forest comes to a close.
Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants will air on Tuesdays in July on HBO. The show will run through July 30 and is available for streaming on MAX. By the time the end credits roll on the Giants’ HBO adventure, it will almost be time for the Bears’ turn. Are you ready for it? I sure am.
