After last night’s Bears game, I had a sweet tooth, so I was driving to McDonald’s to grab some McFlurrys for the wife and kids. While talking about the rain-shortened battle of the backups on the drive, my son asked me if I saw 10 wins as a possibility for the Bears this season.
My honest answer is maybe. We’ll see where injuries stand when the preseason wraps up, but it’s quite possible.
On the other hand, DJ Moore sees no reason why the Bears shouldn’t win 10 games this season. Appearing with his quarterback Caleb Williams on this morning, Moore was asked what his expectations were for the Bears this season, and he made a short yet compelling case for Chicago finishing the season with double-digit wins.
“We had seven [wins] last year. We got an elite quarterback, might as well go 10 wins,” Moore said.
We know how much Moore loves having Williams under center thanks to his press conference this week, where he said that Williams would be a star and that being on the receiving end of his passes was one of the motivators for getting an extension done with the Bears.
“I think Caleb is going to be excellent. I think he’s going to be a superstar, and I j⭕ust wanted to be🐭 a part of that.”
Moore also said he sees three different Bears receivers posting 1,000-yard seasons this year
I’m no mathematician, but that would give Williams 3,000 passing yards, just to Moore, Keenan Allen, and Rome Odunze. Sprinkle in his yardage to Cole Kmet and the rest of the offensive group, and it can safely be implied that DJ Moore sees Williams flirting with the Bears single-season record for passing yards set by Erik Kramer in 1995 when he threw for 3,838 yards.
Moore would know a thing or two about quarterbacks, considering Williams will be the 12th starting qu𒉰arterback he has caught passes from in his short NFL career between Carolina and Chicago.
Moore also reiterated that he was okay with his contract exten🅰sion when Stephen A. Smith asked if he would be watching other receivers (who were paid more than him) this season.
Smith also asked Caleb Williams whether he was wrong to believe that Williams could match C’s breakout rookie season, C.J. Stroud last season, to which Williams replied, “No.”
Yeah, yeah; preseason hype and whatnot. I get that. But hearing these players believe they’re in a position to accomplish great things this season is still exciting. If nothing else, I love the confidence and the lofty self-imposed expectations.
Time will tell, bu🍎t theꦫ future looks bright at Halas Hall.
