The Caleb Williams era is u♚nderway and the Chicago Bears ar🐈e on the board.
It was a humble beginning for the No. 1 pick in last April’s NFL Draft, whose first snap as a pro was a handoff to D’Andre Swift. Williams’ followed with his first drop-back resulting in a holding penalty (because what’s old is new again!). But the first drive also featured this dart to DJ Moore…
… and this nifty little screen pass:
And at the end of it, there were points. It wasn’t a touchdown. But it is always nice to see Cairo Santos drill a ball through the uprights. It was so nice, the Bears did it twice. Caleb Williams and Chicago’s offense followed their first drive with another scoring possession. Once again, it was Cairo finishing it with a field goal. And once again, it featured QB1 dropping a dart.

Caleb Williams’ Bears debut might be done
Before the game, NFL Network was reporting () that the team planned on getting about 15 offensive snaps from the first unit. The Bears are at 18 plays for their quarterback and first-team offense over two series because of some extended drives. If that’s the end of the day for Caleb, he’ll finish 4 of 7 for 95 yards. Williams didn’t throw any touchdowns or interceptions, but he didn’t take any snaps. Punch in the numbers into a passer rating calculator and it comes out to a 101.8 passer rating. That’ll do, rookie.
