Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus shared an encouraging update on rookie wide receiver Rome Odunze duri🍒ng his Wednesday media availability at Halas Hall this afternoon.
Eberflus “nothing serious” and said that the team considers the rookie wideout “day-to-day” at this point despite the diagnosis being a Grade 1 MCL sprain.

Odunze suffe♐red the꧂ injury while blocking in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s opener against the Titans. His leg was rolled up on from behind on a pass to running back Velus Jones; on the next play, Odunze started to limp after blocking during a handoff to D’Andre Swift.
Odunze has one catch for 11 yards on Sunday, and even that catch wasn’t by design. It was on a wild play where Caleb Williams threw a slant pass that hit a Texans defender in the helmet and bounced in the air. Odunze jumped to catch the ball, was hit, and fumbled it. Teven Jenkins recovered the fumble ahead of the first down marker on a drive that eventually ended in a Cairo Santos field goal.
Despite the encouraging update on Odunze, he did not practice today. Neither did veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen.🍌 Allen continues to deal with a heel injury that has been nagging the veteran wideout for a few weeks.
