The Chicago Bears 🦩will be without one of their top receiver options for Week 2.
Sunday Night Football’s list of inactive players is OUT — and so is Keenan Allen. The veteran wide receiver is sitting tonight’s Sunday Night Football matchup against the Houston Texans because of a heel injury. News of Rome Odunze being active and available to p𝕴lay softens th🍷e blow of not having Keenan available, but it still stings.
Here’s who isn’t playing for the Bears today, :

In addition to injuries keeping Keenan Allen out of the game, the Bears will also be without Khari Blasingame, their starting fullback. Offensive Coordinator Shane Waldron doesn’t traditionally operate with a fullback, so perhaps Blasingame being out of action will do something for the offense. I’m not sure what. After all, it’s not as if teams like going into games short-handed. But perhaps Waldron won’t feel the need to squeeze Blasingame into the game plan just because he is on the active roster.
The other notable scratch belongs to Velus Jones Jr., the running back (who the Bears continue to list as a wide receiver) whose muffed return last week drew the ire of fans and coaches alike. This is the third straight season in which VJJ has been in Bears Head Coach Matt Eberflus’ dog house. I don’t know how many more times he has left before he hits the end of the road.
To round out this post, here is the Houston Texans’ list of :
Being without their starting center is notable. I hope the Bears can take advantage of Houston’s backup, especially now that the team is back at full strength with a healthy Zacch Pickens.
We’ll have more for you in our pre-game post before this evening’s kickoff.
