Chicago Bears wide receiver Keenan Allen missed his fourth consecutive practice today as the Bears continue to rest him 🐷while he deals with a lingering heel injury.
Allen missed all three practices last week and did not play in the Bears’ loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday night. What originally was dismissed as a shoe issue has now become a serious concern for Allen and the Bears.
The Bears Will Continue to Monitor Keenan Allen’s Heel Injury
Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said last week that the plan was to give Allen rest so that we would be able to suit up in Houston. When that didn’t happen, Eberflus said after that game that the team would continue to monitor the injury in the coming days before commenting on his potential availability for their Week 3 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts.
“We thought he could make it to the game and potentially work out, and it didn’t happen. …” . “We’ll see where it is coming here in the next couple of days. I think [the injury] is where it was. We’ll see where it is going forward.”
It’s worth noting that Allen missed the final four games of last season with the Los Angeles Chargers with a similar heel problem. It’s concerning that Allen’s heel has flared up again (or was it never fully healed?). It’s tough to get a read on when he may be able to return to action because Ebeflus and GM Ryan Poles have downplayed the injury for more than a month, only for it to be a much more significant issue.
Chicago traded a🃏 fourth-round pick to the Chargerไs in March for Allen, taking on his one-year contract with a $23.1 million salary-cap hit.
