Chicago Bears Thursday Injury Report: Teven Jenkins’ Status Upgraded For Week 3

There are some changes to report on regarding the leading into the team’s Week 3 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.

Let’s discuss…

  • As we discussed yesterday, left guard Teven Jenkins missed practice with a thigh injury. One day later, Jenkins was upgraded from a non-participant to practicing with limitations. Bears Head Coach Matt Eberflus told reporters that Matt Pryor would practice in Jenkins’ place on Wednesday, but felt that the starter would be ready to play on Sunday. The participation upgrade suggests that Coach Flus wasn’t bluffing.

  • Right guard Nate Davis was limited once again on Thursday. I understand that Eberflus wasn’t planning on shaking things up on the offensive line, but an injury to Davis could leave him with no choice. Let me be clear and preface this by saying I am not wanting Nate Davis to be hurt right now. But if he isn’t able to give it a full go, perhaps the Bears should let him rest up and use this opportunity to see if someone else can hold down the fort.
  • More lineman updates? You bet. And another upgrade, too. Rookie Kiran Amegadjie has gone from being a limited participant to a full-go. Some fans are banging the drum for Amegadjie to jump into the starting lineup. Sure, I’m open to the idea, but I think we should pump the brakes on that for now — at least until he can piece together a string of full participation designations in practice.
  • Three Bears defensive linemen were limited on the injury report for a second straight day: DeMarcus Walker (foot), Montez Sweat (elbow), and Andrew Billings (groin). Defensive tackle Zacch Pickens (groin) didn’t practice at all for a second consecutive day. Thankfully, Chicago has some depth along the interior of the defensive line.

  • Wide receiver Keenan Allen (heel) remains the biggest name among the list of non-participants at Bears practice. Sigh. Get well soon, Keenan. The Bears could use that veteran presence in the lineup.
  • Fellow wideout Rome Odunze (knee) remains limited. Yesterday, I asked myself: Who is quarterback Caleb Williams even throwing to at practice? With the injury situation being what it is, perhaps practice-squad addition John Jackson is one of those players. Jackson, who was with the Bears during training camp, has a long-standing rapport with Chicago’s QB1 that dates back to their time at USC.
  • CHICAGO BEARS PRACTICE SQUAD UPDATE: Who’s In? Who’s Out?

  • Fullback Khari Blasingame (hand/knee) still has a DNP designation.
  • Running back Travis Homer is a new addition to the injury report. Homer was limited by a finger injury. I wonder if it will be serious enough to reduce his snap share and give Roschon Johnson and Khalil Herbert some more playing time.
  • Chicago Bears Week 3 Injury Report Update

Writing this injury report update didn’t give me a headache. Phew. Thankfully, my head concerns went away around noon today. I’m feeling better, thanks for caring and asking. Hopefully, tomorrow’s injury report will have some more upgrades to share.
