I didn’t realize Thursday night’s Cubs game was the last home night game at Wrigley Field for the summer. What a shame. The ivy out in center field is just starting to turn colors, too.
Yours truly is hitting the road to Indiana later this morning to see the Bears on Sunday. But don’t worry. The site is in good hands with and while I’m out. Please be nice to them (and each other) while I’m gone.
A reminder to Chicago Bears fans that the sky isn’t falling:
Small sample alert: Chicago’s QB1 is on pace to take 76 sacks. There is a part of me that doesn’t think that pace is sustainable. But there is also a part of me that doesn’t want to tempt the football gods. Maybe this is just me being cautious, but I’m not going to risk spitting in the wind on this one.
Perhaps a new-look offensive line will help the Bears. Yes, I realize Head Coach Matt Eberflus told reporters he doesn’t plan on making changes along the offensive line this week. But the thing about plans is that they can get broken by things outside of your control without warning. With that in mind, I offer an alternative lineup if right guard Nate Davis can’t give it a go in Week 3 against the Indianapolis Colts:
Davis has been limited in practice with a groin injury. For what it’s worth, Eberflus has discussed the value of continuity when it comes to the offensive line. Maybe that is even more of a reason to give Matt Pryor a shot with this lineup because they worked together during the preseason while Nate Davis was unavailable. Don’t mind me. I’m just thinking out loud in hopes that I’ll stumble upon a winning combination of offensive linemen.

Bears Offensive Coordinator has kind words for Caleb Williams, who is taking the pounding that rookie QBs get upon arrival in Chicago better than I would have expected:
“I think Caleb has done a great job with what he’s been asked to do, don’t feel like it’s too much,” Waldron said, . “And he’s continuing to grow. I can’t say enough about his attitude. Each day he comes into work ready to learn, ready to continue. You know, you’re going to see different blitz patterns, you’re going to see different front structures, you’re going to see game plan elements every single week, and I think for him, the more reps he gets, the more times he sees it in those game scenarios, the better he’s going to continue to get every single week.”
I need to brush up on this stuff, but I’m not sure that I love this:
Houston-based NFL reporter Aaron Wilson shares the news that approximately $11,000 for punching Bears running back Roschon Johnson on Sunday Night Football. If you’ll recall, Al-Shaair was not penalized for the punch that was seen by millions watching at home on television.
This is a wild stat:
And with the 33rd pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears (via the Carolina Panthers) select…
Cris Collinsowrth isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. NBC Sports is reportedly zeroing in on a new deal for Collinsworth as its lead NFL analyst through the end of this decade — which will put him in line to call two more Super Bowls. ()

Living in an era where you can witness Shohei Ohtani’s greatness is cool. But it would be a lot cooler if he wasn’t doing it for the Dodgers. On the bright side, at least he isn’t playing for the Cardinals:
