There is more bad news on the North Carolina sports betting front for those hoping fo♈r a launch early in 2024. The North Carolina Lottery Commission Chairman Ripley Rand has confirmed sports bꦜetting will not launch in time for Super Bowl LVIII. Here are the details.
North Carolina Sports Betting Won’t Launch By Feb. 11
It was announced earlier this month that North Carolina wouldn’t be launching sports betting on January 8, 2024. That was the first day it would be allowed to go live after the sports betting law was signed in June 2023. Now, it has also been announced that sports betting in the state will not be available by February 11 which is the date of the Super Bowl.
Day 1 Sportsbooks Need to Apply by December 27
It is a good sign that ▨the state is accepting applications for sportsbooks. Sportsbooks that plan to go live must apply for a license by December 27. Then, the state has 60 days to give the operator approval. There is also a 30-day extension window if needed.
If a sportsbook wants to go live on day one, it w𒆙ill have to make sure it has its application in by late December.
When Will Sports Betting Launch in NC?
Commission Chairman Ripley Rand believes the state will be in a good position early in the New Year to announce an official date for sports betting in North Carolina. If sportsbooks are looking at a 60-day app🔯roval process starting on January 27, March is the earliest we could see sports betting.
The state might be shooting to have online sports betting running by March Madness similar to Massachusetts which went live on March 10, 2023, just iꩲn ꦦtime for the NCAA Tournament.
