Missouri Voters to Decide on Sports Betting Legalization
The legalization of sports betting in the state of Missouri will come down💜 to a vote. On November 5, voters in the state will be able to approve sports betting by voting yes or no on Amendment 2. If the amendment passes, bettors who are at least 21 years old would beಌ able to place sports betting wagers in the state.
What Happens if Amendment 2 Fails?
If the public votes against Amendment 2, it doesn’t mean that betting in Missouri is completely dead. The Missouri General Assembly and the governor could still legalize the practice. As of now, lawmakers have struggled to come to an agreement on how to bring sports betting into the state.
Where Betting Revenue Could Go
Estimates are around $29 million in sports betting revenue a year if the state gives it the go-ahead. Potential places for the money to go include funds to prevent g♌ambling addi🦂ction along with funding for public schools and higher education.
Sports Betting Timeline if Amendment 2 Passes
If approved, how long could it take for sports betting to get running in Missouri? The gaming commission in the state will have to establish a date on which the state is required to get ♍betting started. Most likely, this date would be by December 1, 2025.
Its bordering state, Kansas, signed sports betting into law on June 20, 2022, and the state was up and running on September 1, 2022. With a similar timeline, bettors could place bets by the Super Bowl if voters decide to legalize sports bettin🐠g.
