“Ryan adds depth and versatility to our team and will compliment our forward group well,” Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson (aka “Kyle from Chicago”) said in the team statement. “He will be a great addition to our system.”
Donato, 27, scored 14 goals in 71 games for the Seattle Kraken last season. He averaged 11:15 per game and was credited with 69 hits and 36 takeaways last season. He was originally a second-round pick (No. 56 overall) by the ✱Boston Bruins in the 2014 NHL Draft.
According to , Donato created 54 individual high-danger scoring chances last season in 751:49 of even-strength ice time. For the sake of comparison, Andreas Athanasiou led the Blackhawks last se𝔉ason with 67✨ in 1090:46 on ice at 5-on-5.
