Tonight, two Blackhawks legends will become Hall of Famers. Defensemen Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook will be inducted into the . The three-time Stanley Cup champions were also teammates on Canada’s 2010 gold medal-winning Olympic team and will be tied together forever for Blackhawks fans for their time skating together in Chicago. It’s appropriate that they’ll go into this Hall of Fame together.

Nick Foligno hopped on the FAN Morning Show last week to talk about coming to Chicago. There’s a lot to unpack in his 13+ minutes on the air (video below), but a couple things stood out to me. Foligno will turn 36 on Halloween and was headed to free agency this summer. His rights were traded to the Blackhawks with Taylor Hall before the draft, but he could have decided to test the market. Instead, he agreed to sign with Chicago. Yeah, the $4 million probably helped, but he told the show he’s excited to play a little further up in the lineup, and that he’s “looking forward to that expanded role.” Which is interesting when we start considering forward lines in training camp and to open the season.
But it was Foligno’s comments about playing with Connor Bedard — and some of the other young Blackhawks — that really lit a fire for me.
“How many times do you really get to work with a generational talent?” Foligno said. “There’s only been a few that have cꦅome into our league. I think what excites me is him off the ice. Getting to know the person behind the player and how they motivate themselves but also the areas that you can help.
“You can’t forget, he’s never played in the NHL. He’s never had tܫhese pressures. It’s a whole different beast here in the NHL, and these are grown men who understand how to be pros. And that’s where you get to teach him. So I’m excited about giving him what I’ve learned. I came into an incredible locker room in Ottawa with some of the leaders and people that I worked with, and feel very fortunate that I’ve been able to use that, pass that on to all the teams I’ve been on. So that’s what I’m excited about and looking forward to with Connor. And all the guys, not just him. There’s so many young players that hopefully we can make a great impression on.”

Joe Pavelski, he of the Wisconsin Badgers alumni and 1,250 regular-season NHL games, apparently is giving life and career guidance to NFL quarterbacks leaving the state of Wisconsin.
