I am intentionally going to be fairly brief with my bullets this morning, because it’s going to be a somber day around the Blackhawks organization. The public celebration of life for Rocky Wirtz will take place at the United Center. The doors open at 9:30 for fans who wish to attend and the ceremony will begin at 11 AM CT. I will be there to pay respects.
If you aren’t able to attend the ceremony in person, you can watch either on the Blackhawks’ Youtube channel or NBC Sports Chicago.
Last week I joined Larry Hawley for “9 Good Minutes” on WGN News Now to discuss Rocky’s legacy and what comes next for the Blackhawks.
The Wirtz family hosted a private memorial service for Rocky on Tuesday. Ben Pope reports Connor Bedard, Patrick Kane, Joel Quenneville and Gary Bettman among the 900 family and friends who paid their final respects.
It’s Wednesday, which means the second edition of our What If series dropped earlier this morning. What if the Blackhawks had let Niklas Hjalmarsson walk away after he signed that offer sheet with the San Jose Sharks? Wow… the impact would have been enormous.
Yesterday I wondered out loud if the Blackhawks should answer the phone when someone calls from The Six to dump salary. Could a deal be made that helps both teams this season? What do you think?
Finally, PCA went yard last night. And when I say he went yard, I mean it landed on the neighbors’ lawn.
