The NHL free agent class of 2024 could be one of the most intriguing in recent years with some pretty big name playe🐟rs potentially hitting the market. One of those pla🍰yers will not be available any longer.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed superstar forward Auston Matthews to a four-year deal with a $13.25 million AAV. That’s the richest average annual value in the NHL, moving past Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon ($12.6M).
Matthews, who will turn 26 on Sept. 17, was the No. 1 overall pi🌠ck in the 2016 NHL Draft. He has already appeared in 481 regular-season games, scoring 299 goals. He won the Hart Trophy, the Rocket Richard Trophy and the Ted Lindsay Award after the 2021-22 ꦿseason in which he scored 60 goals with 46 assists.
