Kyle Davidson Talks: Corey Perry, Kevin Korchinski, More

Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson spoke with the media on Saturday. There were a number of questions, first and foremost about the disappearance of forward Corey Perry.

The only updates Davidson would provide were that the decision was the organization’s, not Perry’s. And that he’ll be away from the the team for the “foreseeable future.” He was asked about it being trade related, but wouldn’t go too far in answering that question.

“You know, I thi𒆙nk to start ruling anything out I think is irresponsible, so I’m just gonna not comment on any possible outcome of this,” Davidson said.

It’s important that we all keep in mind that when the organization talks about being transparent, there are situations where they cannot give us a full story immediately. That doesn’t keep social media from having its thoughts, but the fact that the general manager answered questions takes some of the pressure off head coach Luke Richardson to not have any answers in the short-term future.

Without Taylor Hall or Perry right now, Davidson was also asked about the possibility that he looks outside the organization for help with the team’s scoring. He said it’s early in the season to make a deal, and they aren’t in a position right now to make something happen.

Davidson was also asked about Kevin Korchinski potentially participating in the World Junior Championship for Canada. His answer was in line with Richardson’s previous comments: he’s an important part of the Blackhawks in the NHL now, and that isn’t his inclination.

Here’s what he had to say about the team’s top line of Lukas Reichel, Connor Bedard and Philipp Kurashev:
