The Chicago Sky keep on building – literally!
After a franchise-altering offseason that jumpstarted a youth movement around first-round picks Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, the Sky will construct a brand new practice facility. The custom-built performance center will be constructed in Bedford𒅌 Park and cost an estimated $38.0 million.
The Sky will continue to call the Sachs Recr💜eation Center in Deerfield home u💟ntil the new project is finished.
Chicago Sky Get an Upgrade!
While the new practice facility will require a commute, it’s much closer (11 miles) to Wintrust Arena in downtown Chicago than the team’s current location (29 miles). This should allow more players to live in the city as opposed to the suburbs. Not to mention, the new 40,000-square-foot building will feature many new amenities.
“The performance center will include two regulation-sized WNBA courts, first class amenities, private facilities for the players, player lounges, high tech film room, advanced training room with cutting edge strength and conditioning equipment, private chef’s kitchen, locker rooms with personalized lockers, secured parking, content creation studio, beauty stations, and more,”
Another very cool perk will be some important partnerships. The franchise announced they will work with both the Obama Foundation and YMCA Metro Chicago to establish community programming in their bu🌠ilding.
The project is expected to be completed in December 2025, which means Chicago Sky players and employees will not have to wait too long for the significant upgrade. I can’t wait to get a closer look inside!
