Tickets Go on Sale, Matas Buzelis’ First Pitch, Luka Doncic’s DRose Shoutout, and Other Bulls Bullets

The Chicago Bulls’ ticket presale . When I went to check out seats for the home opener against OKC, I had to wait behind only two people in the queue.

Excitement is building!

  • The United Center is going to be full this season, and a part of me undoubtedly finds that frustrating. The more seats that are filled, the more content ownership will feel, and the less pressure the front office will receive. It’s been a vicious cycle for years on end. At the same time, a larger part of me believes it shouldn’t be primarily on the fans to make ownership take accountability. If people want to spend a night at one of the best buildings in the league, they should be allowed to do that without being criticized. Not to mention, Chicago is the third-largest sports market in the country and has a rich basketball history. People in this city are always going to love the game and the Bulls brand. Again, that shouldn’t have to change for the product on the floor to change. Giving this community and fan base what it deserves should be an innate internal passion. Unfortunately, it’s not.
  • With that said, naturally, interest in the Bulls is going to continue to wane the longer they remain irrelevant. While I expect the United Center to have plenty of busy nights this season, I also expect some silent nights. And, let me tell you, these are more than noticeable in an arena that seats 21,000+. By the time December rolls around, and the Bulls are likely struggling to remain anywhere near the postseason picture, keeping fans invested in their star-less product will likely prove difficult. They at least had DeMar DeRozan’s late-game heroics to dangle in front of hungry fans over the past few years. What do they have now? The return of a player they are desperately trying to trade?
  • To be clear, the youth movement will have its exciting moments. Crazy people like me are specifically eager to watch the development unfold. But many fans don’t care about whether Julian Phillips can add a jumper or how Jalen Smith will look as a rim protector. They care about winning basketball games and having superstar talent. The Bulls will not offer either this season.

  • Speaking of young talent, Matas Buzelis made the annual rookie trip to an empty Guaranteed Rate Field. The Chicagoland native alongside Benny the Bull and Patrick Williams. The Bulls shared a little recap on social media …
  • As far as first pitches go for non-baseball players, that was about as good as it gets for Buzelis. Even the man behind the plate told the rookie he might have a job! But, hey, I guess that’s not too surprising. I’m pretty sure the majority of you reading this right now could suit up for the White Sox tomorrow.
  • Overtime asked NBA stars which high school mixtapes are the best of the best. Luka Doncic had a great answer!
  • The side-by-side of Anfernee Simons and Coby White is pretty darn intersting. I feel like most view Simons as potentially the more lethal scorer, but White’s efficiency has really improved over the last year. I believe the Bulls’ guard can comfortably surpass Simons this season as the better all-around player. Nevertheless, the fact the Bulls project to be pretty darn bad may make it hard for White to turn heads on a national level.
  • The full NBA preaseason schedule is here. No national televison for the Bulls!
  • PCA had a night!
  • Well, that stinks!
