Jimmy’s Next Move, An MJ Anniversary, The New Old Crew, and Other Bulls Bullets

Jimmy Butler for FanDuel North Carolina promo 3.10
Jimmy Butler for FanDuel North Carolina promo 3.10

Happy Saturday everyone. We’re one day closer to the NBA season. Let’s get into some Bulls bullets and tip off the weekend.

Bulls Bullets

  • While this first bullet might not directly correlate to the Chicago Bulls, I feel like Jimmy Butler news is always something we’re interested in. After the season, there seemed to be a slight rift in Miami between Pat Riley and Jimmy Butler, and Jimmy is also entering the last season of his contract. With no extension done (or seemingly close), Sam Amick reported that the Warriors could be a potential fit for Jimmy G Buckets.
  • All I have to say is sign me the hell up for Jimmy Butler in The Bay. From a stylistic standpoint, he might not be the perfect fit with that group, but I also feel like Jimmy fits decently in any lineup. The Warriors want to maximize what’s left of Steph Curry’s prime. What better way to do that than to bring in a player who’s at his best in the postseason and is also hungry for their first title? I would love to see Jimmy join the Warriors. The Dubs are still big game hunting after missing out on Lauri Markkannen. While this deal doesn’t seem imminent by any means, this rumor does feel like it makes sense for both sides.
  • Also, to Jimmy Butler!
  • Thursday was the 40th anniversary of the GOAT, Michael Jordan signing his first contract with the Chicago Bulls. The deal was for seven years and worth $6 million. It’s just kind of WILD how far we’ve come in terms of NBA contracts. For comparison, this year’s third-overall pick Reed Sheppard will make $10.1 million this season alone.
  • The numbers though on his Nike contract are even more insane. Nike hoped to make $3 million total off Jordan’s sales in the four years of his deal. In 2022 they were making $3 million in Jordan sales every five hours, and they made $126 million in Jordan sales in the first year of his deal. Insane. Anyway, happy anniversary GOAT!
  • Yesterday the B♌ulls announced their broadcast crew for next season with the new Chicago Sports Network. Something about how the more things change, the more they stay the same. The game broadcast crew will again be Adam Amin and Stacey King, and the studio crew will be Jason Goff and Kendall Gill with K.C. Johnson serving as the Bulls reporter/insider. While I’d have liked to see Will Perdue come along as well, I’m happy to see the broadcast crew back. They’re very good, and Adam and Stacey will make watching this young, rebuilding team that much better.
  • RIP former Chicago Bull, and father of the Warriors Andrew Wiggins, Mitchell Wiggins. Wiggins played his rookie season with the Bulls in 1984 and had a six-season NBA career.
  • The Cubs may have lost, but Michael Busch hit an absolute MOONSHOT last night in Colorado
  • While the Bulls revealed their announcing crew on the new network, so did the Blackhawks!
