History of the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl
The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, formerly known as the Humanitarian Bowl and the MPC Computers Bowl, is held annually at Albertsons𓆉 Stadium on the campus of Boise State University in Boise, Idaho. The game has been played since 1997 and is nationally televised on the ESPN family of networks. The inaugural game saw Cincinnati defeating Utah State.
Originally launched in response to changes in the Las Vegas Bowl’s selection process, the Humanitarian Bowl initially featured the Big West champion against a team from Conference USA. Over the years, conference tie-ins evolved, involving the WAC, ACC, Big 12, MAC, Mountain West, Sun Belt, and the American Athletic Conference.
The Mountain West and MAC maintained their tie-ins until at least the 2025–26 football season, ensuring continued excitement in this college football tradition. Check out the results from the game’s history.
