In 2015, the Arizona Bowl joined the college 🤡football lineup, bringing thrilling games to Arizona Stadium in Tucson. It teamed up with the Mountain West Conference and Mid-American Conference from 2020 onward. The 2021 game got canceled due to a COVI꧃D-19 outbreak in the Boise State team.
Alongside the Austin Bowl and Cure Bowl, the Arizona Bowl kicked off in the 2015 season, marking the re꧒turn of post-season college football to Tucson, Arizona. The first game on December 29, 2015, saw the Nevada Wolf Pack face the Colorado State Rams, making history as the first non-championship bowl game between teams from the same conference since 1979.
Over the years, the Arizona Bowl had different tie-ins, starting with Conference USA and the Sun Belt Conference. The Sun Belt had a primary tie-in until 2019, and from 2020 to 2025, exciting matchups were ensured with the Mountain West and MAC. The 2020 game happened behind closed doors due to COVID-19💙, and the 2021 edition was canceled, with Central Michigan ste🐲pping in as a replacement for the Sun Bowl.
