Penn State (-4.5) vs Ole Miss
The Peach Bowl features two 10-2 teams with Ole Miss and 🌄Penn 🌞State. Both teams lost their two biggest games of the year. How fans have handled those losses is likely quite different as Penn State fans are probably tired of being ranked in the top 10 for most of the season and then dropping games to Michigan and Ohio State.
Drew Allar threw 23 touchdown passes for Penn State but the playmakers are in the backfield. Kaytron A꧙llen had 851 yards with 6 rush𝄹ing touchdowns while Nicholas Singleton had 702 yards with 8 touchdowns. With over 1,500 yards on the year, Allen and Singleton make the Nittany Lions go.
Ole Miss lost to Alabama 24-10 and Georgia 52-17 and had to watch those two teams duke it out for the SEC Championship game. Jaxson Dart had 27 total touchdowns i꧂ncluding 20 passing TDs. Quinshon Jud🌊kins ran for over 1,000 yards with 15 touchdowns.
Auburn (-6.5) vs Maryland
Auburn stumbles into the Music City Bowl after losing its final game in dramatic fashion to Alabama on a last-second TD pass by Jalen Milroe. The entire landscape of the bowl season would have been impacted if Auburn had pulled off the upset vs Alabama but a 4th and goal touchdown from the 31-yard line kept Alabama’s College Playoff hopes alive.
As Auburn tries to get above .500 on the year, it’s led by Payton Thorne who threw for 15 touchdowns and ran for 3 more on the season. Running back Jarquez Hunter ran for 865 yards with 7 TDs in 2022.
Maryland started 5-0 and then hit a four-game losing streak including losses to Ohio State and Penn State that led to a 7-5 finish. Taulia Tagovailoa threw for almost 3,400 yards with 25 touchdown passes. He𝄹 is skipping the bowl game which means Bill Edwards is starting and he had limited action in 2023.
Georgia (-18.5) vs Florida State
For the Capital One Orange Bowl, we have two teams who thought they would be playing in the College Football Playoff. Florida State did everything it could and still missed the playoff despite an ACC Title and a 13-0 record. Georgia dropped the SEC Title game to Alabama and finished 12-1 which wasn’t enough to get a shot to compete for a national title.
The committee punished Florida State for QB Jordan Travis being out for the season with an injury. The 12-team playoff can’t get here fast enough as it seems to be starting one year too late. Brock Glenn will start at QB because Tate Rodemaker is transferring. Top playmakers like running back Trey Benson (905 yards, 14 TDs) and WR Keon Coleman (658 yards, 11 TDs) are moving on to the NFL.
On the other side, Georgia was riding a 29-game win streak heading into the SEC Championship game. Alabama beat Georgia and took their place in the College Football Playoff. QB Carson Beck had 22 touchdo📖wn passes and Daijun Edwards ran for 818 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Wyoming (-3) vs Toledo
Wyoming meets Toledo in the Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl with Toledo coming off a loss in the MAC Championship game. The Rockets🅺 fell to Miami (OH) to finish the season 11-2 and they are looking f🍰or their first 12-win season since 1971.
Toledo is losing its quarterback to the transfer portal. Dequan Fin൩n threw for 22 touchdowns and ran for 7 more in 2022 before de🍎ciding to move on to Baylor. Tucker Gleason will start the bowl game after throwing 4 TD passes during the 2023 season. The Rockets also are losing running back Penny Boone after he ran for 1,400 yards and 15 touchdowns.
For Wyoming, the Cowboys started 5-1 before losses to Air Force and Boise State led them to finish 8-4 and a few games back from making the Mountain West Championship game. Austin Peasley threw 20 touchdowns and had 7 rushing touchdowns this season. He’s joined in the backfield by Harrison Waylee who had 856 yards with 5 TDs.
