Michigan Uses Big 4th Quarter to Beat Washington 34-13
It was a great national title game to cap off the College Footbal🦩l Playoff. Take a look at the quarter-by-quarter recap of the game.
1st Quarter Recap
Michigan took a 14-3 lead with a strong first quarter that included two touchdown runs from Donovan Edwards. With 10:14 left in the first Edwards went for a 41-yard score and then ripped off a 46-yard TD run with 2:23 left in the first for a 14-3 lead aone. Grady Gross knocked in a 25-yard yard field goal for Washington’s only points in the first quarter.
2nd Quarter Recap
Michigan pushed its lead to 17-3 with a 31-yard field goal by James Turner ♐to start the 2nd quarter at the 13:28 mark. Before the half, Washington put together an 11-play drive that cover൲ed 60 yards and ended with a 3-yard touchdown pass from Michael Penix Jr. to Jalen McMillan.
3rd Quarter Recap
To start the 2nd half, Michigan’s Will Johnson picked off Michael Penix to give Michigan 1st and 10 from the Washington 32-yard line. The Wolverines moved the ball just 12 yards in 6 plays and settled for a 38-yard field goal by James Turner for a 20-10 lead.
The Huskies responded with a 7-pla🦄y, 47-yard drive that ended with a 45-yard field goalꦇ by Grady Gross to cut the lead to 20-13 with 8:58 left in the 3rd quarter.
4th Quarter Recap
The 4th quarter started similar to how the 3rd quarter ended, plenty o🍸f drives that ended in punts from both teams as neither squad could make any movesꦺ to get more points on the board.
Then, JJ McCarthy hit Colston Loveland across the middle for a play that went for 41 yards into Washington territory with 9:15 left in the game. Blake Corum finished the drive with a 12-yard touchdown run to boost Michigan’s lead to 27-13 with 7:09 left in the game.
Michael Penix hit Rome Odunze for 44 yards to the Michigan 27 on the following drive but Penix was picked off by Mike Sainristil on 4th and 13. Sainristil return💃ed ༒the pick 81 yards to the Washington 8. A few plays later, Blake Corum scored on a 1-yard run to put the game away 34-13.

2024 College Football Playoff Recap
The 2023 college football season was a great one that was finished with the 2024 College Football Playoff. Michigan, Washington, Texas, and Alabama reached꧃ the CFP with the Wolverines winning the Big Ten, the Huskies winning the PAC-12, the Longhorns winning the Big 12, and Alabama winning the SEC.
Michigan beat Alabama 27-20 in overtime in the Rose Bowl to advance to the championship game. JJ Mccarthy threw 3 touchdown passes while Blake Corum scored the eventual game-winning🦩 touchdown in overtime for the Wolverines.
Washington then beat Texas 37-31 in the Sugar Bowl to set up the title game matchup. Michael Penix Jr. threw for 430 yards and tossed 2 touchdown passes for the Huskies. Dillon Johnson had 2 TD catches. Texas drove to the Washington 13-yard line with 1 second left but a 4th and 11 pass from Quinn Ewers fell incomplete ♓to give Washingto🌺n the win.
In the national championship, Michigan dominat𝓡ed on the ground running for over 300 yards in a 34-13 win. Michigan won 🐓its first national title since 1997.
