We’ve kinda all been sitting on edge, waiting for news on Cubs ace Justin Steele. He was scratched from his scheduled start tonight with “elbow soreness,” but that’s all we knew.
We now know a 🍌little bit more, but it may entirely put you at ease just yet:
The way I’m hearing this news is that the Cubs currently don’t fear the absolute nightmare scenario – you know what that is – but it’s not clear just yet how quickly Steele could return to the rotation.
Steele did get an MRI, though it sounds like we’re all still waiting to hear that it definitely, certainly, absolutely looked clean:
So, the early look 🔯was OK, but they want to take some more scans just to be sure? Is that how everyone else is reading that?
It would make sense, when considering all circumstances, that the Cubs would want to be ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that pitching again this season would not risk a more serious injury. Better to have a healthy Justin Steele for 2025 and missꦕ him the rest of 2024, rather than get him back quickly for a long-shot hope in 2024 and then have something real🌊ly bad happen.
I’m bracing myself for Steele not to appear too much more this season. If that’s the WORST case scenario when talking about a sore elbow, then that’s not terrible. Bad? Yes. But not terrible.
Then, if he comes back fully healthy and makes another start or three this season, I can just be🍃 pleaꦫsantly surprised.
