Cam Smith Just Hit His First High-A Home Run!

“New level, same power.” What a line.

After homering in six consecutive games from August 20 to August 25, Cam Smith was promoted from A-Ball to High-A … because what else were the Cubs going to do with their 2024 first-rounder after that sort of performance?

And in the seven games (before tonight) since being promoted, Smith has continued to absolutely rake, slashing .423/.545/.538 (210 wRC+), with only one more strikeout (6) than walk (5). The only thing he hadn’t done yet was homer. .

Cam Smith First High-A Home Run

Thrown in another walk, and Smith’s early-OPS at High-A? A laughable 1.147.

I doubt the Cubs will bump him up to Double-A so quickly after this first promotion, but he certainly seems too advanced offensively for this level already. Now, there’s not much time left in the Double-A season, but who knows … maybe Cam Smith will follow in Matt Shaw’s INSANELY accelerated timeline and reach Double-A Tennesee in the year he was drafted. Just a wild, incredibly impressive start to his professional career.

Matt Shaw Joinsꦦ Another 🍌Semi-Exclusive Cubs Club, Leads to Trivia

Top Chicago Cubs prospect Matt Shaw quickly turn🤪ed his 20-20 club membership into a 20-30 club membership by stealing his 🉐30th base of the season. These are all completely arbitrary cut-offs, of course, but they do make for fun factoids:...
