CUBS LINEUP — The Cubs are starting a new series in Colorado this weekend at Coors Field. Here’s a look at their lineup versus the southpaw, Austin Gomber.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Ian Happ, LF
- Dansby Swanson, SS
- Seiya Suzuki, DH
- Cody Bellinger, RF
- Isaac Paredes, 3B
- Michael Busch, 1B
- Nico Hoerner, 2B
- Pete Crow-Armstrong, CF
- Miguel Amaya, C
Now that Michael Busch starts all games (no matter the pitcher) and Da🐠nsby Swanson has already moved up in the Cubs lineup (based on merit), the batting order remains unchanged tonight even against a lefty. Everyone in their usual spot, Miguel Amaya back behind the plate.
Colorado Rockies Lineup:
- Charlie Blackmon, DH
- Ezequiel Tovar, SS
- Brenton Doyle, CF
- Ryan McMahon, 3B
- Brendan Rodgers, 2B
- Michael Toglia, 1B
- Nolan Jones, LF
- Hunter Goodman, C
- Jordan Beck, RF
Pitching Matchup:
Chicago Cubs:
Javier Assad has had a nice little run here lately – at least, in terms of results: 2.92 ERA over his last seven starts. And while the first three outings in that stretch were shorter with too many walks, he’s better locked-in recently, recording at least two outs into the sixth inning four times in a row. It’s never easy to pitch at Coors Field, though. So we’ll see how he does tonight. Just finishing the season healthy and strong would be a win at this point.
Colorado Rockies:
Austin Gomber hasn’t had a good season overall (4.50 ERA, 4.79 FIP), but has put together five nice starts in a row: 3.00 ERA, 33.0 IP. His last one was his best of the season, with eight innings of one-run ball against the Atlanta Braves with five hits, no walks, and six strikeouts.
