CUBS LINEUP — Take a look at the Chicago Cubs lineup for the second of three games against the Colorad꧋o Rockies at Coors Field.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Ian Happ, LF
- Dansby Swanson, SS
- Seiya Suzuki, DH
- Cody Bellinger, RF
- Isaac Paredes, 3B
- Patrick Wisdom, 1B
- Nico Hoerner, 2B
- Pete Crow-Armstrong, CF
- Christian Bethancourt, C
Although righties are crushing Kyle Freeland this year (and for his 👍career), one Cubꦛs lefty has had a particularly strong career against him:
Cody Bellinger: 10-29, five 2Bs, 2 BBs, 2Ks
No surprises there, as Bellinger handles southpaws just fine for a lefty. Dansby Swanson has also had more than his fair share of success against Freeland, with 10 hits in 21 at-bats, with a♉ double, a triple, a homer, a walk, and just two strikeouts.
Colorado Rockies Lineup:
- Charlie Blackmon, DH
- Ezequiel Tovar, SS
- Brenton Doyle, CF
- Ryan McMahon, 3B
- Michael Toglia,
- Jake Cave, RF
- Hunter Goodman, C
- Jordan Beck, LF
- Aaron Schunk, 2B
Pitching Matchup:
Chicago Cubs:
Jameson Taillon has put together back-to-back high-quality starts against the Yankees and Pirates (combined): 13.0 IP, 9H, 1ER, 2BB, 9K. And that’s good to see, because he had been on a stretch of four consecutive games with at least four earned runs. Like pretty much everyone from here on out, the goal is simple: Finish the season strong and healthy to engender confidence ahead of next season.
Colorado Rockies:
Kyle Freeland’s overall season numbers are not good, but his last four games have been excellent: 23.2 IP, 5ER (1.90 ERA), 47.3% groundball rate, 17Ks, 3 walks, .220 AVG. He’s allowed an average barrel rate and a little more hard contact than most, but he’s generally been pretty effective. Righties are crushing him, though, all season and for his career.
