CUBS LINEUP — Despite Ian Happ’s record-setting ninth-inning homer off Mason Miller last night, the Chicago Cubs could not complete their comeback. That makes today’s game a rubber match. Here’s a look at the Chicago Cubs lineup for the finale against southpaw Brady Brasso and the Oakland A’s.

Pitching Matchup:
Chicago Cubs:
Justin Steele is back from his quick trip to the Injured List to make his 23rd start of the season. He’s had another great year overall, and if it weren’t for the injuries, it might’ve even been his best: 3.09 ERA, 2.78 FIP (3.0 fWAR). Let’s see if he can finish the year out strong, with a good start today against the A’s and then probably one more against the Phillies in Philly (yikes).
Oakland A’s:
Uh, oh. The Cubs are facing a 26-year-old rookie making just the third start of his big league career … you know that’s not going to end well for them. It never does! Brasso rose from Double-A (6 starts, 2.84 ERA), to Triple-A (12 starts, 5.19 ERA), to the Majors (1.23 ERA, 14.2 IP). He’s made only two starts so far, against two bad teams, but they were both quite good:
vsDET: 6.0 IP, 3H, 0ER, 1BB, 6K
@CHW: 5.1 IP, 5H, 0ER, 1BB, 2K
I suspect the Cubs should be a much tougher ma🐻tchup than t🍬he Tigers or White Sox.
