CUBS LINEUP — Kyle Hendricks likely has two more starts in a Cubs uniform, today being the first. So enjoy it! Here’s a look at the Cubs lineup standing behind him against MacKenzie Gore and the Washington Nationals.

Another day, another start for Patrick Wisdom. On Thursday, he gave Michael Busch a break from first. On Friday, he started at third for Isaac Paredes. And today, he’s spelling Seiya Suzuki at DH. So far this series, Wisdom is 0-4 with 2Ks.
With Suzuki out, Isaac Paredes moves up toꦺ cleanup. PCA is moving back down to eighth, and Miguel Amaya filters in behind the plate.

Kyle Hendricks’ last start was one of his best this season, going six innings of one-run ball with seven strikeouts against the Rockies (and in Colorado!). It has not been a good season overall, but he does have a few nice ones mixed in. Hopefully, he can have a strong end to his season and Cubs career, just for posterity’s sake.
Washington Nationals:
Perhaps former uber-prospect MacKenzie Gore (who was traded to the Nationals in the Juan Soto deal), has not yet lived up to the hype, but he is having a nice season overall. This afternoon will m꧃ark his 31st start of the year. And so far, he has a 4.17 ERA with a 23.8% strikeout rate and 8.9% walk rate. Not great, but not terrible.
His big issue so far is that he’s simply allowing FAR too many line drives (he’s got the highest line drive rate in MLB right now). So hopefully, the Cubs lineup can spray the ball all over the field this afternoon. For what it’s worth, lefties have been hitting Gore a lot better than righties throughout his young career (2.5 seasons). We’ll see if that holds true tonight.
