Setting to Auto Draft in Fantasy Football
If you aren’t available for your draft, you can set auto-pick draft settings to select players for you. Most platforms such as ESPN Fantasy Football and Yahoo Fantasy have detailed settings that allow you to set how you want the computer to pick when your time in the draft order rolls around.
For example, you can tell the auto-scheduled draft to select preferred positions as well as to select the best available player at that position. This way it won’t continue to draft players at the same position each round. If you are doing an offline draft, you obviously won’t be able to have a computer select your players on draft day.

Auto Draft Pick Strategy
Once again, it’s best to make your own picks during a live draft instead of using auto for the scheduled draft. If you can’t make the draft, do your best to dive deep into the auto-draft settings. If those aren’t enough, you should try to get a friend to draft for you and give them your draft cheat sheets.
As we said before, you want to avoid the computer selecting the best available player from a position you just selected. You don’t want to not look at the settings and draft quarterback Josh Allen with your first pick and then draft quarterback Jalen Hurts with your second pick. This is why it’s better to find someone to draft for you if you absolutely cannot make it.
Missing A Pick Auto Draft
If you miss a pick in your draft, many fantasy footballꦅ platforms will then automatically set auto-draft for the rest of your fantasy football team. In this case, a computer will instantly select the best NFL player available in terms of fantasy rankings.
If you are new to fantasy football, it’s best not to auto-draft. You want to pick your own team and develop a draft strategy. That is part of the fun of playing. You get to construct and build a team to see if it’s successful. You likely won’t be very invested in a team that was drafted on auto and you don’t have a connection to the picks.
