Fantasy football busts are a sa🍸d, but important aspect of fielding a consistent winning team across the length of the long and someti🦩mes arduous season.
Week 3 of the NFL season is always full of surprises, and it’s important to move with the tide of the season, but with only one week in the books, it’s equally important not to overreact.

Week 3 Fantasy Football Busts: Quarterbacks
Trevor Lawrence @Bills
Despite his flowing locks and the respect I have for his post-victor🎃y dining choice of Waffle House, Trevor Lawrence’s vibes are not of the fantaℱsy-positive kind. He’s only put up an average of 12.3 fantasy points per game so far in 2024 and gets a stout defense in Buffalo on Monday night.
The Bills held Kyler Murray to just 162 passing yards and a touchdown in Week 1, and Tua Tagovailo🌄a only threw for 145 yards and a score before exiting the game with a con🐓cussion. Lawrence is a tough one to trust at all, particularly this week.
Kirk Cousins vs. Chiefs
Just when you thought Kirk Cousins was back on track with his Eddie Bauer vibes, a matchup with the Chiefs can put a halt to good fantasy production. KC surrendered just 14.7 schedule-adjusted fantasy points allowed (aFPA) to QBs in 2023 and have yielded just 11.6 fantasy points per 🅷game to enemy QBs thus far which is the eighth lowest among NFL defenses.

Week 3 Fantasy Football Busts: Running Backs
Najee Harris vs. Chargers
Najee Harr🐻is’s time on the field dropped from 56% to 45% from Week 1 to Week 2, while Jaylen Warren’s snap share jumped up 17% last week against Denver to 48%. Couple that with a Chargers defens𝄹e that has yet to allow a rushing TD and is only yielding 15.7 half-PPR points to opposing backfields, and it’s giving meh vibes.
Aaron Jones vs. Texans
With the amount of injuries out there you’re unlikely to sit Aaron Jones, but at least temper those expectations for Week 3. The Vikings may be headed for more of a committee approach after Ty Chandler’s higher volume in Week 2, or maybe not but it’s with monitoring.
Houston has been stingy to opposing backs on the ground thus far in 2024, limiting Jonathan Taylor to just 48 yards on 16 carries in Week 1 and D’Andre Swift to 18 yards in 14 attempts last week.

Week 3 Fantasy Football Busts: Wide Receivers
Jaylen Waddle @ Seahawks
The concussion to Tua Tagovailoa last week was a real-life vibe killer all around and thankfully he is alright and on the IR for now. His absence lowers the fantasy value of Miami’s WRs and Jaylen Waddle may be th♍e most affected.
He’s played in eight total games without Tagovailoa and averaged just 5.25 catches for 56.6 yards and zerꦍo touchdowns in that span. If you have other options I’d roll with them otherwise consider Waddle a low-end WR3.
Mike Evans vs. Broncos
I’m normally a Mike Evans ba꧂cker and pounded the table for him all summer long. It pains me to say the vibes are off this week, but he goes toe to toe with 🅠Patrick Surtain on Sunday.
DK Metcalf and George Pickens combined for a brutal five catches for 58 yards and zero end zone trips against Su𝄹rtain in ♈the first two weeks. Evans normally finds a way but it’s going to be a tough one for the 31-year-old in Week 3.
