John Deere Classic History

The John Deere Classic launched in 1971 with the tournament title of Quad Cities Open. This and the next three events would be held in 🅷Dಞavenport, Iowa at the Crow Valley Country Club. Then in 1975, the tournament would be moved to Coal Valley, Illinois and the Oakwood Country Club where it was held for the next 25 years.

Over that span it went through a few name𝓰 changes including the Miller High Life Quad Cities Open, and the Quad City Classic before becoming the John Deere Classic in 1999. Y2K marked the most recent migration for the event to it’s current home of TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.

John Deere Classic Past Winners

With it’s history of being held immediately before the Open Championship, the John Deere Classic hasn’t fielded the strongest player p🍰ools in the past. That said, it’s still produced some pretty awesome tournaments including the first career victories for two of golf’s most recognizable names currently.

The first of which being Jordan Spieth who defeated Zach Johnson via a playoff in 2013 marking his first of tw▨o John Deere Classic wins. With the next being Bryson DeChambeau who proved he was more than just a driving champion by taking home the trophy in 2017.

Along with Spieth, there are five different golfers who have multiple John Deere Classic victories. With Steve Stricker sitting atop the leader with three consecutive wins at TPC Deere Run from 2009 to 2011. See the past 20 years of John Deere Classic wi𝄹nners below and check out the early 2023 John Deere Classic Odds to see who may be adding their name to the list.
