Let’s break down some updated Open Championship odds as we head into the weekend at Royal Troon.
The second round of the Open Championship has come and gone. As we head into the weekendš, Shane Lowry holds a two-shot lead at 7-under par while Justin Rose and Daniel Brown are two shots behind and tied in second place at 5-under.
World number one Scottie Scheffler is lurking at two-under, and with the forecast for the weekend set to calm down, he’s very much within reach of the lead. The top 20 is loaded with big names as well – Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Collin Morikawa, Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, and Joaquin Niemann are all within striking distance.
Some notable names didn’t quite make the cut for the weekend at Royal Troon. Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy both struggled in the windy conditions and couldn’t overcome their poor starts, so they’re Open Championships have come to a premature ending. Some other big names in the golf world not playing the weekend are Bryson DeChambeau, Tommy Fleetwood, Ludvig Aberg, Keegan Bradley, and Viktor Hovland just to name a few.
Saturday’s third round will tee off early in the United States. The final game consisting of Shane Lowry and Daniel Brown will tee off at 10:45 am Eastern time.
