Who Will be the No. 1 Pick?
There are several elite college players at the top of this draft class including Oregon State’s Travis Bazzana and Georgia’s Charlie Condon. Who will go number 1? The scouts are divided as both players look like they are close to being ready to be big leaguers at the plate with solid bats.
Bazzana won the Cape Cod League batting title last season hitting .375 and showed he has what it takes to transfer his skills from college to the pros. He’s a lefty-hitting infielder with the ability to hit for average, power, and he has speed on the base paths.
Condon enjoyed a monster season for Georgia this s♚pring and is arguably the best power hitter in the draft but can hit for average as well. He hit .433 this p♔ast spring and smashed 37 homers with an insane OPS of 1.565.
Hagen Smith from Arkansas is one of the top pitchers in the draft. The SEC Pitcher of the Year can reach up to 100 mph with his fastball but sits 94-97 with a nasty slider. Batters hit just .144 against him and his strikeout per nine rate was 17.3꧟ which is just incredible. He is likely going to be a top-5 selection in the 2024 MLB Draft.
