Raptors 2024 NBA Mock Draft – The NBA is shaking things up this year with a new draft format for the 2024 season. This year’s 78th annual draft will be held over two nights, a first since the league standardized the draft to two rounds in the late 1980s.
The first round will take place on June 26th at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, followed by the second round on June 27th at ESPN’s Seaport District Studios in Manhattan. The second round will also see an extended time allotment between picks, with a shift from two minutes to four. Additionally, the draft will feature 58 picks instead of the usual 60 due to tampering penalties levied against the Philadelphia 76ers and Phoenix Suns in the past two years.
Toronto Raptors 2024 NBA Mock Draft
The Raptors had a tough year, struggling with their offense and leaky defense. Unfortunately, the team lost their top pick in this year’s draft to San Antonio in the Jakob Poeltl trade. This means they won’t be able to replenish the roster with an early selection. However, their midseason trades have given fans hope for the future. It was difficult to let go of core veterans OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam, especially after losing Fred VanVleet to the Rockets last summer. But acquiring Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett in return has helped the team’s rebuild moving forward.
Barrett, primarily a guard in New York, played extensively at p༒ower forward after moving to Toronto. This adjustment allowed him to collaborate with more skilled players on the perimeter. Despite the limited number of games, this change in position significantly improved his offensive efficiency, as Barrett made over 55% of his shots and enhanced his playmaking abilities.
It is essential for the Raptors to re-sign Immanuel Quickley this season, as the 24-year-old guard excelled in his starting role. Scottie Barnes also showed promising progress. While he may not become an elite scorer, his overall contributions and ability to elevate his teammates are immensely valuable. He averaged nearly 20 points per game last season, so it’s not as if he’s an offensive liability. However, I am uncertain whether he has a high ceiling in terms of scoring. The team also needs to see more from Grady Dick, the top pick from last year, who finished his rookie season strongly after a rough start.
Toronto Raptors 2024 NBA Mock Draft – Pick No. 19
Kel’el Ware – Indiana
Position: C
Size: 7’0″, 242 lbs
Age/Year: 20, Sophomore
Nationality: American
Pro Comparison (per ): Myles Turner
Ware possesses a multitude of valuable skills for the NBA, such as the ability to defend the rim and shoot from long range. He is an exceptional shooter given his si♍ze and has the capability to excel in pick-and-roll situations while also converting open deep shots. His physical stature is an advantage, coupled with his agility and coordination around the basket, which indicates strong potential for his future growth.
However, he needs to work on maintaining consis🦩tent performance, which is a common area for improvement at his age. While he has succeeded against smaller opponents in the past, the question remains whether he can withstand the physical demands of competing against NBA players on a nightly basis.
