2024 NFL Mock Draft: Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3-Round Mock Draft
Round 1, Pick 26: C Jackson Powers-Johnson, Oregon
Jackson Powers-Johnson can step in and 🙈ꦦreplace the retired Ryan Jensen immediately, giving them a day-one starter in the middle of their offensive line with their first pick.
Powers-Johnson is a former Oregon sta▨ndout with immense power at the center position. He has smooth footwork, a balanced base, a strong punch, excellent upper-body torque, and is very aware. He blocks two guys at once, sets a heavy anchor, and rarely gets pushed back. In the run game, he’s tough, physical, and regularly knocks opponents back. However, he sometimes lunges, leans, pops up too upright, and misses his target. He’s a one-year starter with relatively few games played.
Round 2, Pick 57: EDGE Adisa Isaac, Penn State
The Buccaneers released Shaquil Barrett, leaving a void at outside linebacker opposite rookie Yaya Diaby, who led the team in sacks last season. Anthony Nelson provides solid depth, but the Bucs seek a long-term solution. Penn State’s Adisa Isaac, known for his size, strength, and athleticism, joins to bolster the pass rush. Isaac’s versatility includes setting the edge against the run and executing stunts. Despite adversity, such as a torn Achilles, Isaac displays resilience and refined techniques like the two-hand swipe and rip-move. With experience in coverage, he fits well into Todd Bowles’ complex defensive scheme.
Round 3, Pick 89: HB Jaylen Wright, Tennessee
Richaad White was tremendous out of the backfield last season as Baker Mayfield’s check-down security blanket, becoming one of the best pass-catching targets in the NFL. But depth is key in modern-day NFL backfields, and Jaylen Wright complements White perfectly.
A dynamic running back showcasing impressive size and explosive speed, Wright’s running style leans towards a more direct approach rather than fluid movement, which affects his agility and elusiveness at the second level. While his vision and aggression in inside running situations are average, Wright compensates by consistently gaining yards. His tendency to stretch plays wide and evade defenders around the edge suggests he would thrive in a stretch-oriented rushing scheme, leveraging his speed effectively. Although he can display power when needed, Wright occasionally leans towards finesse. Nevertheless, his knack for big plays and versatility as a pass catcher make him an attractive Day 2 prospect with the potential to become a starting back in the future.
Round 3, Pick 92: TE Cade Stover, Ohio State
Stover is the No. 3 tight end in the class according to PFF and No. 4 on The Athletic’s Dane Brugler’s Big Board. Stover needs work as a blocker, but he’s a vertical threat that could feast in an offense that operates under center. Stover has a꧅n excellent catch radius and body control to make catches in traffic outside his frame. He registered the 11th-most contested catches, 23rd-most deep catches, and 21st-most deep yards among tight ends with more than 25 targets in 2023.
