It’s likely the Lions will go with a defensive player for their first selection in the 2024 NFL Draft and if they stay put at pick No. 29, they have plenty of talent to choos✃e from.

Cooper DeJean (DB), University of Iowa – DeJean is tough as nails and would fit right in for Dan Campbell in this Detroit defense. He can play both corner and safety but it really doesn’t matter as Detroit needs both.
Kool-Aid McKinstry (CB), University of Alabama – One of the best outside corners in the 2024 NFL Draft, McKinstry is strong in press-man coverage along with a solid tackler as part of the run defense. He would be an excellent addition to the Lions secondary, allowing for more diverse coverage.
EDGE and Defensive Tackles Mocked to the Detroit Lions at Pick 29
Chop Robinson (EDGE), Penn State University – Detroit can certainly use a complementary pass rusher to star Aidan Hutchinson. Robinson is super athletic with exceptional explosiveness of the ball.
Darius Robinson (EDGE), University of Missouri – Robinson showcased versatility in Missouri’s scheme in 2023. The Lions would also likely use him opposite Aidan Hutchinson.
Braden Fiske (DT), Florida State – Fiske is a high-effort player with a never-quit attitude on the field. He impressed at the 2024 NFL Combine, showcasing incredible athleticism for a defensive lineman with a burst you normally don’t see from players his size (4.78 40-yard dash at 292 pounds).
Offensive Linemen Mocked to the Detroit Lions at Pick 29
Jackson Powers-Johnson (C), University of Oregon – Lions Pro Bowl center Frank Ragnow turns 28 in May, and he’s dealt with various injuries over the last few seasons. Powers-Johnson is a Dan Campbell-esque guy and would provide depth for now with the intent of becoming the center of the future.
Kingsley Suamataia (OT), BYU – He’s massive at 6’5″, 326 pounds with solid athleticism that can be nurtured into an NFL tackle.
