The Houston Texans killed the NFL Draft last year, selecting the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and Defensive Rookie of the Year with back-to-back picks, and they also drafted a solid wide receiver in Tank Dell. Houston also had a solid free agency period, adding pass rusher Danielle Hunter and multi-use defenseman Denico Autry. On top of that, the Texans executed a trade for running back Jꦿoe Mixon and re-signed Dalton Schultz, securing their budding offense led by sophomore quarterback C.J. Stroud.

Round 2, Pick 42: Braden Fiske (DL), FSU
The Texans could use another big body to anchor their revamped defensive line. Fiske iﷺs a high-effort player with a never-quit attitude on the field. He impressed at the 2024 NFL Combine, showcasing incredible athleticism for a defensive lineman with a burst you normally don’t see from players his size (4.78 40-yard dash at 292 pounds). The FSU product would fit in right away as part of the rotation to replace Sheldon Rankins, who signed with the Bengals during free agency and would make for a solid addition to this surging Houston team in their efforts to get to the next level.
Round 2, Pick 59: Kamari Lassiter (CB), Georgia
Lassiter boasts a desirable combination of size and instincts, making him a shutdown threat against even the most elite wide receivers. He excels in press coverage, using his strength to jam receivers at the line of scrimmage and disrupt their routes before they even begin. The former Bulldog’s fluid movement allows him to stay in phase with his assignment deep down the field, no matter how shifty or speedy they are. Lassiter held his own in a conference loa🌟ded with elite wide receivers (SEC), earning a reputation for shutting down the opposing team’s top targets.
He’ll compete with acquired veterans Jeff Okuda and C.J. Henderson for playing time opposite Derek Stingley Jr.
Round 3, Pick 86: Calen Bullock (S), USC
Bullock is a versatile defender who played almost equal parts at free safety, in the slot, and in the box. He immediately adds depth to the secondary and likely special teams, bolstering the defense for the Houston Texans moving forward. Bullock is PFF’s fourth-highest-graded safety in the 2024 NFL Draft class, with an overall ranking of 81.
